Today is rainy. It is, as I would say when I was eight, a sort of droopy day. Even with the flowers outside budding and blooming in the wetness and the little seedlings in my market garden soaking up the rain, it’s just droopy.
In general, this past winter has been very muddy and wet. Which is a pity, because the market that I attend (Greene Farmers Market), is building a new pavilion. The rain keeps the project in perpetual delay. Thankfully, though, we should be in the pavilion by mid-June. And then no more messing with tents!
After two particularly windy Saturdays, with business cards, flowers, tents, tomato seedlings, and earrings all blowing about the market, the pavilion will be a promised land. Like the Israelites during their forty years of tent-dwelling, we are ready for an established tabernacle.
I’ve been so happy to be part of the planning process for the new pavilion and re-vamped market. We’re planning a whole lot of interesting activities, such as cooking demos, discussions on different growing techniques, live music, etc. From a vendor’s point of view, that makes for a much more pleasant market experience. Happy, interested, talkative customers are much more desirable and pleasant than dash-in-dash-out customers.
So that’s what’s up on the market scene. If only this rain will stop, and our new market experience can commence!
